Ever since the World Cup in 2010 South Africa has become more visible on our footballing horizons, with plenty of fans developing a soft spot for Bafana Bafana and following their exploits on the pitch. The country's domestic league does tend to go unnoticed however, which is a shame as it's currently the home for some of the nicest football shirts we've seen in a long time - although of course we would say that, as we're the ones making them!
We thought we'd shine a light on some of the fine work being done by the Umbro team over in South Africa, who have crafted these fantastic kits for the Premier Soccer League team University Of Pretoria. Known as the AmaTuks and one of the oldest football teams in South Africa, the team will take to the field next season in these beautiful kits, which take the best elements of classic football, rugby and cycling jerseys and combine them into something very special.
The club's home (top), away (middle) and third (bottom) shirts are sure to be some of the smartest in South Africa, and if we hear of any way that they'll be available further afield we'll be sure to let you know.
It's not just the University of Pretoria that will be kitted out by Umbro in South Africa next season though. We're also very proud to be supplying these smart shirts to Maritzburg United. MUFC (no, not that one...) also play in the country's top division, and will be one of a number of clubs with the Umbro double diamond emblazoned on their chest throughout the 2013/14 season and beyond.
