Over the last twelve months, we’ve been celebrating the finest new music that Manchester has to offer with Tailored At Dale Street, and had some pretty cool night down at our design studio in the process. Our latest gig with hip hop and d&b heads Hit & Run was perhaps our finest yet, with hundreds of people and even an orchestra crammed into Dale Street.
Kicking us off that night - and the latest act to be highlighted for Tailored At Dale Street - is Skittles, an MC with a talent for turning Manchester life into some blinding rhymes. With a real gift of the gab and a soulful backing band, Skittles puts a distinctive Mancunian twist on a classic hip hop sound, and has swiftly established himself as one of the best live acts around town.
Skittles already has a connection to Umbro, as his album ‘Poor With £100 Trainers’ was released on Umbro Industries winner Broke N £nglish’s record label. Here, he was handpicked by Hit & Run to represent the sound of Manchester along with two other acts that we’ll be revealing over the coming months.
Check out the video above to get a sense of Skittles electrifying live act – for more information on where you can hear more of him, head over to his website. Want to see more pictures from Hit & Run’s Tailored At Dale Street party? They’re over on our Flickr page now.
