Umbro is turning back time by launching a collection of iconic footwear from the 90s – Introducing the ARP Collection.

The Archive Research Project collection (ARP) features four iconic football training styles; NEPTUNE, RUN M, EXERT MAX and the MAXIMA referencing contemporary sneaker trends. Each style has had a subtle design refresh to bring the collection bang up-to-date. With its SS19 Archive Research Project, Umbro not only underlines its place as one of the original British sportswear brands but also forwards its conversation with trend-led sneaker aficionado’s.

Featuring a jagged and chunky phylon sole unit, the RUN M sneaker has evolved into a style to be reckoned with. The design is a literal interpretation of the original RUNNER M, first introduced in 1997, and was designed specifically for footballers to wear whilst training. The updated style features trend-inspired colourways including a tonal tan and clean all-white, and two classic colourways of sporty Ibiza blue and blazing yellow.

Perhaps the closest to its original silhouette, the NEPTUNE features a nostalgic speed lacing system and mesh panels as well as a heavy logo presence which includes an oversized black Umbro double diamond on the white outsole, brand logo across the side of the upper and an embroidered white logo on the tongue. Available in four colourways inspired by the original style, the sneakers combine vermillion, blazing yellow, Ibiza blue and nimbus cloud.

With its high-fashion looks, the EXERT MAX sneaker will appeal to a fashion-forward audience. Featuring a chunky, aggressively textured white sole with a soft contrasting upper, the distinctive outsole draws inspiration from an archive style originally developed as a training shoe for aerobic exercise. Constructed using a breathable performance mesh upper featuring a combination of zigzag leather and suede panels, the design also delivers a convincing combination of style and comfort in an attractive trio of colourways with white, grey, fair aqua or black.

With a design based on an original Umbro football training shoe, the MAXIMA features the same football boot inspired upper panels, midfoot support frame and mesh panelling for breathability as its original silhouette. A striking outsole featuring chunky mid-sole cushioning and an aggressive tread pattern directly inspired by the original complements the upper to give the shoe a modern urban twist. Keeping with traditional football boot colourways, the MAXIMA is available in white and black.

The Umbro ARP collection is on sale in selected countries around the world now.
