Rituals can be small, private acts: silent mantras or socks and shoes in a certain order. They can be communal: songs or overly elaborate handshakes. And they can be brilliantly bonkers, like smacking a kiss on a bald man’s head.

In January, we teamed up with our Umbro sponsored teams including Argentinos Juniors, Cape Town City FC, FC Lorient and Terengganu FC, to call on grassroots sides to share clips of their own match day rituals with us.

From synchronised warm-up routines to dances and pre-match songs, you didn’t disappoint. From all submissions, clips from three teams were entered into a public vote with South Africa’s Kepa Celtics FC finishing in first place.
